William Hathaway was born in Madison, Wisconsin and grew up in Ithaca, New York. He earned a BA from the University of Montana and an MFA from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop.

Hathaway’s new book, Dawn Chorus: New and Selected Poems 1972-2017, has just been published by Somondoco Press, and you can download a press release, purchase it here, and read a positive review of it here.

His other recent of poetry include The Right No (2012), Promeneur Solitaire (2005), and Sightseer (2000), which you can explore and purchase here.

He has taught at numerous institutions including Louisiana State University, Cornell University, Union College, and Southampton College, as well as spending half of his working life outside of academia. He is currently retired and lives in Maine.
